What is a Rotary Gear Pump?
A rotary gear pump is a type of positive displacement pump that uses rotating gears to move fluids. It works by trapping liquid between gear teeth and transferring it from the inlet to the outlet.

How the Rotary Gear Pump Works
The working principle of a rotary gear pump is based on positive displacement.
- Liquid enters the suction port.
- The rotating gears create a vacuum, drawing fluid into the chamber.
- Fluid gets trapped between gear teeth and casing.
- As gears rotate, fluid moves along the casing wall.
- Fluid is discharged at the outlet under pressure.
Because fluid does not pass between gear teeth but is carried around them, the pump delivers a smooth, controlled flow without turbulence — ideal for high viscosity liquids such as oils, syrups, polymers, chemicals, and lubricants.
